our Heritage

Our family is a registered member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, making us a minority owned business. We are lucky to have a bit of our heritage preserved in the form of an old home built in Saulte Ste. Marie by Charles Oakes Ermatinger in the early 1800s. Charles married a woman from a nearby Chippewa tribe and together they had 13 children. They lived in the house until 1828, which was subsequently used as a court house, a hotel, a social club and even a YWCA. The site has been turned into a museum and is now open for daily tours.
