Industrial Control was started by John and Doris Ermatinger in the 1970's out of their basement. Now some 40+ years and two new buildings later, we sell over 5.5 million dollars in automation components and solutions annually in the state of Michigan. Sons Karl and Mark Ermatinger took ownership of the business in 2006 and have been running operations ever since.
Our business has grown organically because of our constant dedication providing the best service to our customers, creating a measurable return on their investments, and always supplying the highest quality products. Our family is a registered member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, making us a minority owned business. We are lucky to have a bit of our heritage preserved in the form of an old home built in Saulte Ste. Marie by Charles Oakes Ermatinger in the early 1800s. Charles married a woman from a nearby Chippewa tribe and together they had 13 children. They lived in the house until 1828, which was subsequently used as a court house, a hotel, a social club and even a YWCA. The site has been turned into a museum and is now open for daily tours.
