VIRTU ultrasonic proximity sensors extend the offering of reliable object detection where simple On/Off automatic switch control is required. Like with the SUPERPROX* sensors, VIRTU sensors us the latest ultrasonic technology to ensure the ultimate in sensing reliability through a discriminating micro-processor program, but at a more economical price.
The VIRTU sonic sensors utilize a sensing window to perform repeatable detection of objects either inside or outside two set limits. The sensing window limits are set through a pushbutton setup or teach function. The pushbutton is not resident to the sensor. Through an external pushbutton connection with the sensor, the two limits for setting up the sensing window are set. With the limits set, VIRTU detects only those objects that are within a set window and ignores all others.
VIRTU is constructed in a rugged NEMA 4X and IP67 rated plastic housing with a versatile dual-mount capability. Its construction design combines a square body backend with corner through holes and a threaded 18mm diameter front snout to give VIRTU a universal compatibility for accommodating a wide variety of mounting configurations.
A maximum sensing range of 510mm (20”) and a deadband of 51mm (2”) is standard with all the VIRTU sensor models. A sensing window of any size may be set anywhere within this sensing range through the pushbutton teach function. These limits are stored in nonvolatile memory and thus are retained when power is removed from the sensor.
Any VIRTU sensor is available in either a normally open or normally closed NPN or PNP output configuration. Through the Model Reference Guide, the user can select the specific model and be assured of a reliable economic proximity sensing solution for a multitude of applications.
Due to its construction, VIRTU sensors are sealed to withstand dusty, dirty, noncondensing humidity, clean-in-place, high-pressure washdown environments. These sensors are capable of detecting all materials regardless of color, shape and composition (transparent or opaque, liquid or solid) including clear glass, powder, metal and plastics. In addition, VIRTU is unaffected by changing light conditions, colors and noise.
