 Today, the fastest growing industrial identification (ID) segment is Direct Part Mark (DPM) identification. DPM ID involves directly forming machine-readable codes on manufactured items and tracking those items as long as they are useful. Cognex has applied nearly a quarter century of machine-vision based image formation and image analysis expertise in its suite of world-class ID products.
The codes are produced by dot peen, laser, electrochemical etch, and inkjet markers on a variety of surfaces such as metal, glass, ceramic, and plastic.
